Network meetings

A key activity of the Nordic Archaeal Network will be to hold annual three-day network meetings. The first of these took place at Tisvildelej in Denmark in April 2009 and the second in Stockholm in Sweden in May 2010.

Meetings will begin on the evening of the first day, carry on through the second day and end at lunchtime on the third day. The meeting programme will consist of four oral presentation sessions, mixing longer keynote talks from experts invited from outwith the network (most likely from Europe, the US and the Far East) with short talks from network members, and one poster session. Four outside experts, selected by the network participants, will be invited to each meeting. A key objective of the meeting will be to allow the younger scientists, especially PhD and MSc students, to present their data in an informal but scientifically rigorous forum.

In keeping with the stated aim of NordForsk to bring together research groups in the Nordic area with those from the three Baltic countries, funds are available to allow us to offer financial support to younger scientists from the Baltic countries who wish to attend the meetings. Our aim is to stimulate archaea research in these countries.
